Trip Rexx is a rapper, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer based out of Los Angeles, California. Crash landing on the scene in 2017, Trip Rexx supplies the missing link between acid-washed 60s psychedelia and codeine-drenched 21st century trap. A modern hip-hop renaissance man, the Toronto-born artist conjures up a sound that might be best described as The Grateful Dead and Bootsy Collins backing Young Thug (in space). Not to mention that he worked on building that lane all by himself.
Growing up in Connecticut, Trip went from playing piano and cello to eventually picking up guitar, bass, and even drums, cutting his teeth playing in bands throughout elementary and middle school. An avowed "Dead Head," Trip was always drawn to classic psychedelic musicians like Parliament/Funkadelic and The Beatles. At age 11 or 12, his ears were opened to the likes of Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Kid Cudi (just to name a few), and his love for hip hop was sparked. He spent much of middle and high school diving deep into the genre's rich history, and eventually began writing raps of his own. As Trip's creative palette expanded, he even started trying his hand at creating beats. After an unsuccessful attempt at receiving a higher education, Trip decided to drop out of college in 2017 to pursue music full time. That same year, Trip Rexx released his Swear to God mixtape and the Drip EP, with standout tracks like "Magnet," "Lazy Sunday," and "RAV 4." Now, Trip is growing faster than ever and gearing up to bring a new wave of psychedelic mayhem to the modern hip hop scene...don't sleep on this unique artist to watch!
